RAYE, the renowned singer-songwriter and producer from Croydon, finally unveiled her highly-anticipated debut album “My 21st Century Blues,” which, as RAYE would say, is undoubtedly an honest album by a wronged woman.

It all started when she signed a four-album deal with Polydor Records at 17 in 2014. Over the years, RAYE had several successful UK top 20 singles and wrote for music industry heavyweights such as Beyoncé, Little Mix, and Charli XCX. However, despite her growing success, releasing her album faced constant delays and rejections.

“My pen is a gun. This is about me telling the stories I want to tell, in the order, I want to tell them, through the sonic landscape. I want to tell them,”‘This is how it is.’ I want to talk about things honestly.”

RAYE’s debut album is diverse and unique, featuring a mix of R&B, blues, jazz-pop, dance, and hip-hop. Her smoothly flowing, sweet-sounding, soulful voice highlights her powerful melodies and honest lyrics. Standout Out tracks on “My 21st Century Blues” Album, Escapism, Hard Out Here, and Bust It Down. Check out RAYE with 070 Shake live on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, performing Escapism.
